Test Description
This test measures the candidate's ability to design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient local area networks and network links to corporate host systems, and to develop reliable engineering solutions. The test covers several subject areas:
Networking
The candidate should be able to:
- Explain the OSI model and its layers
- Describe the TCP/IP protocol suite
- Configure IP addresses and subnet masks
- Explain the purpose and function of routers, switches, and hubs
- Configure VLANs and trunks
LAN Switching
The candidate should be able to:
- Explain the purpose and function of LAN switches
- Configure switch ports and port security
- Explain the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- Configure STP
- Explain the purpose and function of EtherChannel
- Configure EtherChannel
